The Barceloneta Quarter celebrates its Festival at the end of September in honor of San Miquel del Port, the patron saint of the neighborhood, with has also a baroque church dedicated to him located on the Plaza de la Barceloneta.

The origin of the Festivities in Barceloneta dates back to 1855 when, on the occasion of the centenary of the neighborhood, a great party was held.

During the Festa Major there are a lot of activities and concerts for all tastes, occupying a prominent place the traditions (sung by habaneras, sardana dancing, exhibitions about the history of the neighborhood).

One of the most typical and expected activities for children is the parade of the cannon, a man disguised as a Napoleonic general, in the company of the bighead who rapresenta, walks through the streets of the neighborhood, shooting candy with a cannon.
