Opposite the Barcelona's Cathedral, you can find a great frieze made of sand. It was designed by Pablo Picasso and made by the Norwegian artist Carl Nesjar.
This ornamental element consists of 3 faces in the façade and 2 more in the inside of the building.
Each of these 3 friezes that form the facade of the building, has a particular theme:
The face on the street Arcs is the frieze of children.
The face on the Plaça Nova (Cathedral Square) is the frieze of the giants.
The face on the street Capellans is the frieze of the Catalan flag (the “senyera”).
Inside the building we can see:
The face on the Arcs street is the frieze of arches.
The face on Capellans street is the frieze of the “Sardana”, the Catalan’s traditional dance.
