The Palau Berenguer Aguilar was the first of the palaces of the Montcada Street to be transformed into the Picasso Museum. After this palace, the Palau Barón de Castellet, the Palau Meca, the Palau Finestras and the Palau Mauri came were added.
The Palau Berenguer Aguilar dates back to the 12th century and everything we can see today, which is perfectly preserved, belongs to the reform made by Berenguer d’Aguilar
in the 15th century. Amongst which you can appreciate the beautiful polychrome roof beams, the coat of arms from the Caldés family who were the first owners of the palace,
the access to the office located at the beginning of the staircase to the main floor and the image of San Cristóbal which, by the way, is one of the many things that
changed throughout of the years.
On the terrace, it has an immense solarium, from where the owner of the palace could see the sea and the port and thus control the arrival of the merchant ships.
