The “Felip House” is a building located in the textile gold zone of Barcelona, named like this due to the huge number of textile factories that were operating in this part of the city. In part for this reason, this area of the Eixample neighborhood grew and began to gain prestige at the end of the 19th century, motivating the new bourgeoisie to chose this area for the construction of their residences.
That is why Manel Felip Sintas chose this area for the construction of his residential building. In fact, he built two buildings: one for himself and another one, just next to, for his wife.
Modernist in style (one would not expect anything else), the novelty of these buildings was that they decided to eliminate the lower floors to install shops with access from the street.
The façade of the buildings is not attractive at all... but the lobby is already something else: An impressive main staircase with stuccoes and decoration with different floral
motifs. The wide chromatic range of ochre and green tones on the walls transform this space in a kind of cloud.
