Refuge 307

Refugio 307 by Gratis in Barcelona

The Refuge 307 (Refugi 307 in Catalan) is located in the Sants Quarter and was built by the neighbors. This refuge is one of the best preserved examples of the network of tunnels created by the people of Barcelona during the Spanish Civil War.

Its name is because it was the refuge 307 inscribed in the records of the City of Barcelona. The Refuge has three access entrances and has about 400 meters of tunnels with a height of 2.10 meters and an approximate width of 1.5 and 2 meters. The refuge had several rooms: toilets, fountain, infirmary, room for children, among others.

At the end of the war the shelter was fertilized and had various uses. Currently part of the Barcelona History Museum and guided tours are offered for those who are passionate about history or who want to know more about the city.

Due to the star dimensions of its tunnels, this place is not recommended for claustrophobic people. However, it is a visit that will make you relive the anguish and fears faced by the locals, that is why this place has become an authentic memorial of the struggle for survival and the disaster of wars.

Entrance: You can buy the tickets in the refuge.
