It was a building where lots of love-stories happened, like also deceptions and intrigues. One of these stories talk about a young woman, born in a rich bourgeois family, that one day was walking in this market looking for bargains when she saw a castaway in the beach, almost lifeless and badly wounded and fell in love with him. This castaway was the only survivor of the wreck of a Genovese ship. This love story that would never have been possible, due the young lady was engaged in marriage to a man from the rich bourgeoisie. But at the end the love triumphed.

This recently renovated market, is composed of 17 gastronomic “paraditas”, where you can enjoy authentic tapas, drink a real vermouth and test the typical regional dishes of Catalonia. And all this with a very good quality and reasonable price.

It is open all year around and you should go and see the special corner where they perform “showcooking”, where they prepare the fresh food in front of the client at the moment.
