The “Athletic Tower” is shaped like a silhouette, which reminds us of an athlete holding the Olympic torch. It rises from the top of Montjuic so it can be seen from many points of the city.

It is built in steel and its base is covered with trencadís -the type of ornamental application of the mosaic from ceramic fragments- which is a clear homage to the modernist architect Antoni Gaudí. It is important to mention that its shape is also designed to act as a sundial, when projecting the shadow of its central water on the Plaza de Europa that is next to it.

Its avant-garde design and its original shape make it a famous element of Montjuïc, which attracts thousands of visitors every day.
