The Port Vell (Old Marina in English) is about 4 centuries old and was the first of Barcelona. Before the great reform to prepare Barcelona for the 1992 Olympics, this area was a set of abandoned and deteriorated warehouses.
The Port Vell is a curved strip that surrounds the current marina of the city. From one side, it borders the end of Las Ramblas just next to the Mirador de Colon
where the Gothic Quarter meets the Raval Quarter.
On the other side it arrives were the Barceloneta Quarter begins.
In the center of the Port Vell you will find
a (p)leasure island with the shopping center called Maremagnum,
the 3D cinema and the Aquarium.
You can access this island from the Rambla del Mar (at the end of Las Ramblas) or
from the Moll de la Fusta (Barceloneta Quarter).
