The Palau Sant Jordi is a multifunctional pavilion that hosts concerts of pop music, rock, family shows and sporting events, is located on the mountain of Montjuďc. It is known as the jewel of the so-called 'Montjuic Olympic Ring', which also includes facilities such as the Olympic Stadium, the Pircornell Swimming Pools or the INEFC building.
The japanese architect Arta Isozaki was its designer and was inaugurated on September 2, 1990, together two years before the celebration of the Olympic Games in
Barcelona. The Palau Sant Jordi is considered a masterpiece of architecture and modern engineering. Its structure and mechanized materials give it a great flexibility that
allows it to adapt the enclosure to accommodate all kinds of events.
During the Olympic Games of Barcelona 1992 it hosted the competition of artistic gymnastics, as well as the finals of handball and volleyball.
The Sant Jordi Club is located just behind the Palau Sant Jordi and is one of the small rooms. It is used for medium-sized concerts. The Barcelona 92 Room annexed also to the
Palau, is well known. There they hold gala dinners and corporate events.
The Palau Sant Jordi has a capacity of 16,670 spectators, while for concerts it has a maximum capacity of more than 24,000 spectators.
