The Joan Maragall's Gardens have their origin in those designed by Jean-Claude Nicolas Forestier in the vicinity of the Royal Pavilion that was built on Montjuic inside the premises of the International Exhibition of 1929. It was not until 1970 that the gardens expanded and they were called Joan Maragall, that is one of the other gardens of Montjuic that together with those of Mossen Cinto Verdaguer, Joan Brossa's Gardens and Mossen Costa i Llobera, were dedicated to Catalan poets.
The walks through these gardens make us feel like kings; They are elegant, wide stretches of lawn, with tree-lined avenues, ornamental fountains and more than 32 sculptures
and a Mansion. Among the most outstanding sculptures are: “Lying girl”, “Naked in the pond”, “Susana in the bathroom”,
“Woman at the waterfall” and “Woman and Girl”.
The Joan Maragall Gardens are a space full of peace and tranquility. The song of the birds and the sound of its fountains make this park the perfect place to disconnect from the cosmopolitan Barcelona.
At the end of the meadow, you will find a staircase that goes down to the avenue of Santa Madrona that connects these with the Laribal's Gardens, another gem of the mountain. Before starting the descent you can enjoy a great view of the city.
